The Three Gorges Dam is the heaviest object ever built by human hands. It holds back 42 billion tons of water. And according to the engineers who built it, it is shifting.

The Dam was supposed to be a symbol of China’s eternal power—an engineering miracle designed to tame the Yangtze River forever. But 20 years later, the miracle is turning into a nightmare. From the 80 "hidden" cracks in the concrete to the terrifying reality of reservoir-induced earthquakes, the structure is fighting a losing battle against physics.

But the structural failure is only half the story.

In this Video, we peel back the layers of state secrecy to reveal the dark history of the dam. We investigate the "tofu-dreg" corruption that compromised the foundation, the military nightmare of a missile strike, and the forgotten history of the Banqiao Dam disaster—a cover-up that hid 230,000 deaths.

The Red Chapel is a 2009 Danish documentary film directed by Mads Brügger. It chronicles the visit of Brügger and two Danish comedians who were adopted from South Korea, Jacob Nossell and Simon Jul, to North Korea under the pretense of a small theatre troupe on a cultural exchange. This is also the first time the two comedians have ever visited North Korea. The entire trip is a ruse: the trio are actually trying to get a chance to portray the absurdity of the pantomime life they are forced to lead in the DPRK. The film turns deeply emotional as Jacob Nossell has spastic paralysis and North Korea has been accused of disposing of the disabled. The film won Best Nordic Documentary at Nordisk Panorama 2009 and Best Foreign Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it was included in the Official Selection. It is filmed and edited by René Sascha Johannsen.

This week we tackle a truly harrowing film. Arguably director Peter Watkins' finest work, 1966's 'The War Game'. An anti-nuclear war film that takes Watkins' pseudo-documentary style to its pinnacle to tell the story of what a Britain during a nuclear war might look like.
