Why I Speak Out | Male Experience, Meaning, and Free Speech

Welcome to the first full episode of the Existential Evan podcast — serious topics, sharp humour, and honest discussion about male experience, mental health, culture, and meaning.

This is a brief introduction to who I am, why I started the channel, and the kinds of conversations I want to have here.

In this video, I touch on my academic background and the three degrees I studied, spanning psychology, sociology, criminology, and philosophy. I also explain my commitment to free speech, my opposition to ideological dogma and political correctness, and why I do not believe serious issues should be softened or censored just to satisfy social media algorithms.

I briefly discuss the drop in reach I have seen after speaking about men and boys — especially male suicide, male suicide prevention, and male mental health. I also touch on the double standards that men and boys can face when they speak openly about how they feel and what they need, the labels often attached to people who advocate for them, and why I believe honest discussion matters if we actually care about truth rather than dogma.

This is not a deep dive into every issue — it is simply an opening statement: a first step, and an honest introduction to the direction of this channel. It is also a space for open discussion and debate, especially for those who care about men and boys, free speech, truth, and meaningful conversation.

The lighting is rough, the sound could be better, and the curtains are certainly making a statement — but this is an iterative process, and I would rather begin imperfectly than stay silent indefinitely.
