Yeah raised from a calf - and bottle fed every day for months and kisses and cuddles and scratches.... and running up to the car when you came home every night - like a great big giant puppy.... And then the time comes to kill and butcher it and fill the family freezer.... Hmmmm "Who wants to say grace?" and the whole family starts crying while they look at the steaks on their plates............. ....
"Daddy.... Where is Foo Foo?" Gulp..... lump in throat - the kiddies best play friend..... Honest answer or fairy story? The trouble is that kids tend to see through the bullshit.... and they remember you lying to them - for ever.
This should make an interesting mix of emotions when it is time for old Bessy to go off to the slaughter house . Don't worry . She will be back in the form of sirloin steak on the supper table soon enough. Enjoy !
Hmmmm - yeah that's a tough gig. I like cows... I really fucking hate it when your critters like cats and dogs start getting old and grey and shot starts going wrong with them and then you have to take them to the vets for a fatal overdose.... Yet they have been your best friends - usually for quite some time.
