'Saif al-Islam had a realistic plan to regain Libya for Libyans' — Gaddafi's fmr spox

Tripoli authorities are investigating the killing of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was considered de-facto Prime Minister during his father's leadership and was widely expected to replace him.

But their government fell during the civil war and NATO intervention in 2011.

A decade later, Saif declared his intentions to run for Libyan president, but elections were later postponed indefinitely.

Regarded by many in his homeland as the last symbol of unity in a nation torn apart by unrest, his death stunned the North African state.
