We don't have a choice to sign up for the draft. It's automatic now. Why would I sign up for a draft to a country that hates me? That is the question and the state of the country. Fuck them.

I would take the suggestion of requirements for being able to vote from mandatory draft (the case for every male) and raise it a bit more; I would require at least two years of service; it wouldn't have to be a combat role, (which would pay a lot more) but a minimum of boot camp and daily PT... might even result in minimal health standards, as well as ensuring that every citizen has the minimal knowledge and skill to actually defend themselves and their (future) family, it might also help lower crime by filtering out those who are either incapable or strongly predisposed against following (laws) orders or not being able to control their violent tendencies, it could even give them an outlet that could benefit the nation?
