If the dirt and grit is kept off the axle threads, and out of the reverseable 4140 axle nuts, through the use of nickel anti seize lubricant (the silver gear on the thread) the nuts and axle will last a life time. The HOLLOW axle can be cleaned etched and tinned, the polished to size, for the bearings, and that rear wheel and axle would last a life time....
