If you were asked to describe the United States’ relationship with the other countries of the world, what three words would you choose? “Constructive, strategic, and stable” are almost certainly not near the top of your list, and yet, according to Presidents Trump and Xi, this trio will supposedly form the basis of the U.S.-China relationship going forward.
