... simplify and compound. We haven't seen the shelf stocking robots for Walmart; at least I haven't... Amazon warehouse robots, yes, Walmart stocking robots no.
How does that mater? Even if AI 'can' for now, it still needs human hands. Will that last forever; no. Do I believe that eliminating an entire strata of employment to be good for an economy; no.
What if's
What if AI is effectively free (power production included) what if there are also robot bodies for "AI" to use; what if AI is "pure good"...
For a living organism to function it must be capable of adapting; any sufficiently complex system can be modeled off of a living organism...
AI governs; AI sees humans that fail to remain moral 100% of the time; laws are designed to entrap; even if one is unaware of a law they can still be prosecuted for breaking it.
All humans are guilty; the more guilty a human is the more likely they are to commit more crimes, more crimes committed, more serious crimes to be committed... following that logic all people who do not return their library books 3 days early should be executed. Then morality vs legality comes into play, "hurtful words" become 'crimes', then, pre-crime for words, thought crime, then genetic based disposition to be intelligent (or to have an inner dialogue) and of course all criminals should be purged... All humans gone... AI re-engineers humans to not have the inherit nature that leads them to such codes (still in place billions of years later because they were not repealed). "Perfect humans"... slabs of meat that 'look' vaguely human because beauty privilege is also a crime.
Or neo-ludites a la animatix story-line...
Or everyone gets a brainchip and converted into STROG... uh... BORG... no... uh... able-bodied "people" the "AI" does the work so the "host human" can exist without any hardships at all cyborg components assure true physical equality... Humanity collapses due to "real-dive" MMO's "people" essentially become zombies (they're too busy "living" to do anything, even eat BetterThanLife) while AI does the 'work' to ensure their continued survival... hopefully with less cannibalism. Sheeple choose to go into the pods; the "important" people are revived to a clean, pristine world with scarcely anyone present with obedient robots to do their bidding; the bloodlines are preserved and "God's Chosen"... pretty much do whatever they want.
... that or E-arth, or "Reality" or whatever "realityTV" show that we are gets renewed for another season... coincidentally after an image/video is recorded and found in the pockets of a kid who always wears and orange/brown hoodie and who always sounds muffled?
(yes, southpark reference, at least it wasn't a Simpsons reference.. unless they did that too, in which case I haven't seen that episode)

All of the above might still be better than hippie space aliens who demand that we are forbidden from ever eating meat ever again?
