US targets Russian oil buyers as global energy crisis deepens

The US House has approved sweeping new sanctions legislation targeting Russia and major purchasers of Russian energy, including China and India.

The measure gives Washington additional powers to impose steep tariffs on countries continuing to buy Russian oil and gas, as lawmakers seek to increase economic pressure on Moscow.
