Turkey draws red line as Houthis test Saudi defense pact

Turkey says its defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan does not authorize offensive military operations abroad. But with Houthi missiles and drones targeting Saudi airports and oil sites, the alliance has announced plans to rapidly deploy forces to the kingdom.

Ankara’s pact still awaits parliamentary ratification, while sending Turkish soldiers would require a separate decision. Erdogan has outlined possible intelligence, logistics and ammunition support. Opposition lawmakers reject deeper involvement, and the Houthis warn that even indirect assistance counts as joining the war.
