A small and old german tip, that can change how you will sleep outside. Even on private tours in the mountains I use this method to sleep outside. In the military this method saves you valuable resting time. No long setting up of your sleeping place. As soon as you can start to rest, you unroll the bivy roll and slide in - here you go! Of course this method can not be used in all circumstances. It mostly applies for moderate or cold climates.

I have just make a bed roll, similar to this myself.... Mostly for the speed to set up and pack up, and to get a fast few short sleeps on long drives...
