But my old man had a streak over his scalp from a 0.303 bullet - which were cheap and plentiful in large amounts, after WW2, and he and his brothers were out hunting in the wilds of Tasmania, and his brother thought my old mans head looked like a kangaroo on the other side of a rise, through all the ferns, so he took at shot at it... the bullet just skimmed the skin on my old mans scalp... took a nice little skid of skin off too.... Had it of hit his head dead center though, my old man would not have had a head left.... The British 0.303" is around 7.9mm ,
