In the 1840s the Famine (the Great Hunger) devastated Ireland. Death and emigration reduced the population by nearly half. We will consider some of the causes and effects of this tragedy, with special concern paid to the lessons we can learn from it.

We had potato blight in America a year before it appeared in Ireland I believe.. hmm
