I have, well had, the same policy with my sisters. Don't get me wrong, I'll not let someone assault my sisters in front of me, but if they went back to their abusive boyfriend or whatever, they were on their own. Fortunately my sisters are married, so I'm no longer obligated to protect them--that's their respective husbands' jobs.
