Hey Keeper! I hate to tell you this, but judging from the extremity of climate these days, I have a feeling that Texas will suffer super hot summer this year, followed by Cat 4/5 hurricane. I do hope I'm wrong. Indoor vertical farm is the only way. As for protein, maybe lab grown stem cell meat wasn't a bad idea.

@hqwebsite: you could be right. however you are basing this off of an feeling? or is there something you are holding back on telling me? there is this youtuber who pays significant attention to the sun and it's effects on the earth who has talked about issues arising due to the sun flair's influences to the effect of it changing how the earth is effected and how the climate will make dramatic changes within the coming years. now idk if this is where you were heading with your statement, but i believe that it's important to be prepared for any given situation that could happen as this is how i was raised and made fun of for it by others who didn't plan ahead for things and regretted it when shit hit the fan and they were fucked for it.

@KEEPER: Well, just my feeling. After all weather prediction is 'chaos theory'. Too many factors. But yeah, after watching 'The Martian (2015)' and seeing Matt Damon's potato farm get destroyed by sandstorm, you just need plan B.

@KEEPER: This concept is totally new to me. Quite mind blowing too. Thanks! I only do small scale gardening (mostly cooking herbs) because I live in an apartment. I notices the heat from air-condition condenser were generally wasted. I'm not sure if there is a way to benefit from it.

@hqwebsite: maybe, but understand that heat rises and it's best to use the heat but also allow it to escape as there is also an reason why that heat is leaving that the condenser. meaning you can't keep all that heat in there 100% of the time. but i first learned about radiant heat through the idea of how earthships worked. if your interested in what i'm talking about look up on youtube earthships and learn everything about them and how they work. and then experiment with these ideas yourself.

@KEEPER: I have a small plot of land (recently inherited from my mom) which I plan to experiment with this earth-ship concept. I've been studying the feasibility of doing this in a wet and humid tropical climate. I wish it can go sustainable off grid.

@hqwebsite: sounds like Florida, there was one video i remember that they built an earthship in Florida, it was a bit more challenging though from what i remember, in fact it's possible i mirrored that one here.

damn, i couldn't find it, but i have uploaded more than a few earthship videos as well as monolithic dome videos as it's something i'm interested in. you could probably find it on youtube though.

@KEEPER: Wet climate has it own challenges. That is why small scale experiments are needed. Humidity is also the enemy of concrete dome. I watched that video too. Maybe fiber-glass is a better alternative. Some earth-ship uses glass bottles for wall.

@hqwebsite: i personally like how the monolithic domes are constructed, in many ways they also hold the same concepts as earthships, but if i were to create something it would be an mixture of both design principles as both have their points of view that improve on one another's design ideas.

@KEEPER: ty man for posting... ya if you have a backhoe and skills and some plumbing anything is possible. Major crisis is coming to the planet. Look at what happened long ago in india we are going back to what it was How to kill off a population we just dont know how to grow and can food anymore. I am on forums and not a lot of members.
