The FBI says it stopped an ISIS-inspired mass shooting at the Mall of America before it could happen. Federal authorities accuse 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud of planning to attack the mall during a crowded Hmong arts celebration and allegedly discussing his desire to kill non-Muslims.
According to the criminal complaint, Mohamud believed the attack could kill between 30 and 60 people. Agents arrested him after he allegedly paid an undercover FBI employee $600 for an AK-47 and 200 rounds of ammunition. Nobody was injured, but officials say the operation disrupted what could have become an absolute bloodbath at one of America’s busiest shopping centres.
