Stop funding Kiev: AfD and BSW join forces against Ukraine aid

German opposition parties AfD and BSW are joining forces in Saxony-Anhalt to demand an end to arms deliveries and financial aid to Ukraine, calling for diplomacy with Moscow and more spending on social care at home.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz faces sharp criticism over his spending priorities as he pledges another billion euros in military support for Kiev. Romanian MEP Diana Sosoaca backs the opposition initiative and attacks the EU leadership over Ukraine policy and national sovereignty.

The proposed state-level initiative seeks federal action; it does not itself end Germany’s Ukraine aid.
