This is a detail watch.... these streets are lining very narrow long blocks.... I don't know what is to HIS left.... and what he can see, but he appears to have relied upon traffic coming from his right, being visible. BUT the car that pulled out, was from a driveway, that was out of his view, on the other side of the house.... Assuming anything can be really dangerous.
He also appears to be young, without a whole heap of experience, and how many of us got to be old, was surviving our own inexperience, others mistakes and many near misses.... Hence the crabby old man syndrome and driving very cautiously...... "Ooo might be a kangaroo behind that tree.... Ooooo or that.... Oooo you can never tell these days... Oooooo" Yes I am a stupid fuck for some very solid good reasons..... L:ike bouncing beasts that weigh the same as 2 or 3 bags of cement coming through the windscreen at 100 Kmh....

No helmet, the speed was not appropriate for the circumstances. He did not have a full and clear vision of the intersection - for that speed, and distance. His head hit the side of the roof - when the car is passed he is holding his head, just before he rolls and dies.
