It seems to me that it's a gibberish word. Are you referring to Chinese chess(xiang chi/xiang qi) or Japanese shogi?

@Francis_UD: Do you play it? I am just starting off at it... pretty piss poor actually. Am rebuilding a chess set to use universal symbols.

@Francis_UD: Got a good wooden set but the symbols are blobby and a mostly different on each side, and I can't find accurate meanings for the symbols.... BUT I found another set that is exceptionally clear and then I find the original that I purchased is in Mandarin, and the really clear figures are in Cantonese.... then I find that both sets are mostly different characters in Cantonese..... and this is because the wooden original set has the surface machined around the characters and then this makes for poor clarity on the character, and the Cantonese are in a printed character, much like very old manual type writer keys. So I purchased 40 x 26mm OD x 0.3mm thick stainless steel disks to etch / embed / bond some labels onto, to then skim machine the original wooden characters off and to then insert the disks with the character sets I have created into the surface of the wooden chess pieces.

Then I emailed all the chinese chess playing sites with my proposal to adopt universal characters - where the cannon looks like a cannon, and so on and so forth, so everyone around the world can play the game, irrespective of the language.....

I still cannot play for shit... Have to learn.

@wroger_wroger: Xiang qi/xiang chi is Chinese chess. It does bear fundamental similarities to chess in general since they seem to have both descended from a common ancestor from India apparently.
