Daniel and Teal’c discover the Aschen provided a ‘vaccine’ to the thriving Volian civilisation, during a flu pandemic like the one on Earth in 1918 that killed over 20 million people. The Aschen vaccine had a side-effect; “Aschen vaccine causes… what?” In the span of 200 years the Volian civilisation went from an urban civilisation of millions to an agrarian civilisation of thousands, after they were ‘saved’ by the Aschen vaccine.
