SAILING THE TEST BOATS FOR THE DRAGON HARALD FAIRHAIR

Dragon Harald Fairhair is being built in Western Norway. It will be the largest Viking ship built in modern times.

We have built three 8 m long test boats which have different variations of the hull that the large Viking ship will end up with. Small variations in the shape of the hull can mean very much for how the ship will manage in the sea. For the crew this can mean the difference between life and death. The test boats are named after the three nornes: Urd, Skuld and Verdande.

Dragon Harals Fairhair will sail in the wake of the Vikings. It will be a ship that has the superb seaworthiness that characterized the ocean going long ships in the Viking Age.

The large ship will set out for its first voyage in 2013. We will invite people from all over the world to be crew members.
