also, the areas that where burned to the ground where sown with accelerant metals, micro-particles of aluminum/magnesium and some other stuff...
that stuff burns so hot that it is more effective than a crematorium in atomization of people and objects....
on top of that, there is the blue laser theory that seems to also be correct, so i am guessing that several types of methods where used when starting and continuing (keeping it going) the fire in some cases on specific targets... while protecting specific areas...
