15% of Congress lists AIPAC as their single largest all-time donor — and Thomas Massie's bill to make them register as a foreign agent under FARA has a 2% chance of passing. David Knight traces AIPAC back to its founder Isaiah Kenan, a former Israeli government lobbyist and foreign ministry official who created the organization specifically to escape FARA registration after raising over $70 million for Israel in the early 1950s. When a small-donor fundraiser raised $1.3 million to support Massie, Miriam Adelson — a single Israeli donor — wrote a check for the same amount the next day to cancel it out. Trump himself is on tape bragging that Israel "literally owned Congress" and asking Adelson to explain how she does it — at which point she declined to answer on camera.
