Network is a 1976 American satirical drama film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, released by United Artists, written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet. It is about a fictional television network, the Union Broadcasting System (UBS; sometimes referred to as "UBS-TV"; situated in the film as the "fourth television network" after NBC, CBS, & ABC), and its struggle with poor ratings. The film stars Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch (in his final film role), Robert Duvall, Wesley Addy, Ned Beatty, and Beatrice Straight.

I remember my dad takingc me to see this in the theatre - it was the year I turned five (I was four at the time) - I don't remember the movie itself - but I do remember my dad sharing his popcorn whith me as I sat on his lap to see over the head of the people in the row ahead of us.

Media companies sells lies. What else would they do? I have stopped watching television for decades and whenever I saw a show on air it's always the same. That Ned Beatty was right. I need to go out and touch the grass and smell some flowers

I remember this at the movie theater. I also have a copy at home. It sure did foretell (wink) reality T.V. and show what lame-stream media is all about now, ratings. Ned Beatty's part in this movie was brief, but AWESOME! That speech really told it how it is.
