More border barriers will not stop irregular migration — Moroccan politician

Moroccan politician Said Bakkali argues that building more physical barriers around Ceuta and Melilla will not stop irregular migration and could lead to more migrant deaths.

Bakkali says people will continue attempting to cross in search of better lives and opportunities. He also rejects the idea that Morocco should police Europe’s borders, declaring: ‘We are not the gendarme of Europe.’
