Curtis Mathes CRTs were pieces of shit (except for the tabletop and portable models, which were OK). If you want a console TV, get a Zenith console TV instead!

Curtis Mathes mega combos are pieces of shit, though. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9QvwUGWyoM as proof. So, Mike Pompaeo really is like a Curtis Mathes mega combo@

@Shin: Now working - nice house etc. When they walked in the door - and the SIZE of the TV - Fuck - that is HUGE.... No wonder digital and chips won out.... I am not game to look up if the more expensive phones can stream directly to a flat screen monitor...

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Yeah, those Curtis Mathes mega combos are too big for me, that's why I stick to 19" table models and smaller (though I would take in a 21" RCA CTC-16 console if it is NOT a combo unit but just a TV by itself)

@Shin: Like I am sort of OLD (enough) to be old enough... Dunno what for though... But it's really WIERD in todays terms, where the TV sits LOW on the floor, rather than on a stand or now screwed to the wall... like at a seated face height.....

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Yep, that's those combo units in a nutshell. If I ever get a console unit, I'd like it to be one of the ones that resemble a tabletop fused to a table (basically one with either fixed legs or one that's like a wooden tabletop cabinet fixed to a swivel mount on a table)

@Shin: (either like that one RCA CTC-16 remote set that shango066 fixed or like that 25" Packard Bell Teledyne in that video with the Curtis Mathes mega combo)

@Shin: I dunno.... the modern monitors, have a tiny little power supply like 25W or something, and the 27" screens are really good... So they use fuck all power, and give a brilliant image.. and they are slim and thin and weigh fuck all... Why to fascination with the giant 10 ton dinosaur cathode ray tube moving picture boxes? Sure fuck all these days can be repaired and it's usually a case of dying from old age, and then everything else is not that far behind the part that failed... but CRT screens and drivers, also wear out too.... My last 23" AOC monitor lasted ~22 years... 2 weeks of funny "zzzzzz zzzz" faint noises and some shimmering here or there and then DEAD. .... But fuck eh - that was a pretty good run..... But the old valve and transformer and electron tubes... They all wear out too... and getting working viable parts for really ancient stuff..... Why the fascination with them?

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: I just think they're cool. Also they are theft proof

@Shin: I don't hate TV's - the Main Sleaze JEW media just over played their hand in Australia and it's just wall to wall bottom dollar, low IQ lies and bullshit...

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Yep, broadcasters suck over by me too, that's why I collect VHS tapes and DVDs, so I can record stuff from here to watch on them when I temporarily lose internet service.....
