From dribbles in the top pocket, to ink all over the fingers, and then ink blobbing out all over the pages.... Pelican had the LEVEL pen for a while - and they mastered this problem by having a small tank to feed the nib and a LARGE tank to feed the small tank - and it was controlled by a manually actuated valve.... They overcharged for them like absolute fuck in Australia, and full price NEW pens were totally unaffordable, and a few of them came up cheap in a clearance sale.... and then the inks - in the special ink refill connector lid bottle dissappeared, so did the pens and nibs etc... Now they want $75 each plus $150 postage from Germany... or something like that 2 or 3 years ago... I figure for that price I can buy a fucking shitload of Steadtler 2B pencils at $8 for a pack of 12...

BUT - I do like fountain pens.... HOWEVER manually writing anything is sort of a dark art..... Try to remember the last time that you or anyone you ever knew, hand wrote a 2 or 3 page letter, and posted it to anyone anywhere...... Pens, Pencils, light thin Letter Paper, and envelopes AND stamps... I don't know the ages.... but when I figured that posting 10 x 120 page documents to 10 people at $20 postage, and all the costs for the inks, and the paper, and the time to print them all.... Well that came to say $170, well when I figured that when I could do a very minor settings in image density and other settings, to make a reasonably good low resolution PDF, at say 10 Meg - I could just copy paste the emails and send direct.... and I could leave it up to THOSE cunts to print it out themselves..... On their time and on their dime..... And after that.... I don't think I have really ever posted anything for the last 15 or 20 years.

@Lucifer333: There is also the other shitful thing about fountain pens is being a bit careless and dropping it on it's pointy nib and fucking up the microscopic levels of adjustment and precision.... AND I have a small stockpile of the steel / stainless / and brass nibs, of the dip pen type, and SOME of those nibs were designed for mapping and they could write quite nicely in hair thick lines.... Fuck - People are SO clever......

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: well when i was a kid i got cheap fountain pens, and i burned through a lot of them, but since i used them every day (also for drawing comics and stuff) the ink never dried out, now professionally, I dont use cartridges but real ink pot and i use some kind of injection needle to fill the cartridge system (its not a throw away cartridge)
