Solar and Photovoltaic, solar panels, were chosen to ensure energy scarcity. That enables control. This attack is so multifaceted I'm not sure it's ever been done at least in recorded history.

Frugality and Simplicity = excellent insulated chest freezers and solar panels... and a battery bank... = dirt cheap = almost no power.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: It would work for homesteaders. But it won't be able to supply the energy needed. And as for batteries they need better one's. Look how much energy is needed to charge a battery then see how much you get out.

@Councilof1: I have done the calculations for a highly insulated chest freezer with the 4.5 energy star ratings... they cost peanuts per day to run... easy solar.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: That sounds interesting.

@Councilof1: On a scale of 1 to 10, just how interesting is it really?

@Councilof1: And why?

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Anyway to save energy is positive if your homesteading or living off the land. The only issue I have with solar is I live in a country that doesn't get much sunlight especially in winter.

@Councilof1: Naaaaa you cannot "save the energy" - you can however, make very efficient use of it, thus significantly lowering the consumption and costs related to the pruchasing of it and or the euqipment needed to create or harvest it...... What is your latitude and or approximate location?

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Misprinted I meant to put "reduction". The less energy you use the less energy you have to produce.

@Councilof1: There are now SOME brands of chest freezers, because people have been setting them up as dual use with simple power timers or refrigerator thermostats, well there are companies that are now bringing out chest freezers with ALL their insulation and all that, with BROAD RANGE thermostats, that work from deep freeze to refrigerator tempertures --- This is a brilliant video as to why chest freezers are SO efficient... Chest Freezers; What they tell us about designing for X https://www.mgtow.tv/v/GCPMZT

@Councilof1: Chest freezers and SOME vertical door chest type freezers - the ones with brilliant seals and insulation - ARE getting used as refrigerators - using simple switch type timers or changing over the thermostats........ BUT SOME brands - the real cold internally sucks moisture out of the air inside the freezer body and then freezes it... which can lead to issues of corrosion - if the chest freezer is used as a refrigerator, IF the water remains liquid... ... AND so the dual use chest freezers - that go from minus 25*C to 8*C - are set up with a broad range thermostat AND sealing up around the internal cooling coils to keep the moisture out of that area. But they cost FUCK ALL to run... like 10c a day vs $2 a day - https://www.canstarblue.com.au..../electricity/the-mos
