I calculate risk on a 45* Degree thing....

If a cliff is say at 30* Degrees, at best if it's muddy it will just slump a bit, but any of it is not likely to move much, fast or far.

At 45* Degrees unless your further down hill - if you on the flat IF the hill is say 50 meters high, stay 50 meters + 50% or 75 meters, away from it.

If it's say 90* Degrees - and vertical, probably 50 meters high, then stay 100 meters away from it, that gives you the distance from a tilting fall - like a tree, plus room from the debris field.... that could bounce, slide or roll your way....

It's HEALTHY levels of paranoia... of the practical kind.
