There is another way do determine the gradient.
In Google Earth.
There are TWO heights, in the elevation...... Camera Height and land height.
BUT after moving uphill so that the ground elevation, is the same as the former camera height, you only have to determine the distance moved, and that get you your rise over the run.
Just a thought.
