If you want to write your novel, it's highly recommended to read other novels at the same time as well. When you read other novels, you'll know better how to describe things, how situations and patterns can be recognized, which will also increase the quality of your novel. Writing without reading is like making music without listening to other music. I don't know if you read other books at the side, but just to let you know.
