Inside Dahiya: Lebanon rebuilds as Israel threatens more destruction

Israel’s attacks have left huge parts of southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs damaged or destroyed, with Lebanon now facing an estimated $11 billion reconstruction and recovery bill.

Steve Sweeney reports from Dahiya, where residents are rebuilding homes, shops and businesses while rejecting pressure to abandon the area.

But reconstruction has become tied to one of Lebanon’s most explosive political questions: the disarmament of Hezbollah.

With Israeli ministers once again threatening devastating attacks, residents face another question — even if Lebanon is rebuilt, what guarantees are there that it won’t all be destroyed again?
