India demands answers after Meta removes Modi video ‘in error’

India is seeking a detailed explanation from Meta after a video message posted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefly removed from Facebook.

Some users reportedly saw a notice saying the content had been withheld in India following a legal request. Meta later restored the video, apologized and attributed its removal to a technical error.

BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi told RT India that the incident raises serious questions about automated moderation, human review, platform transparency and digital sovereignty. She argued that Meta’s initial explanation does not clarify why users were shown a notice referring to a legal request.
