‘I don’t know what is happening’ – EU security chief confuses Russia with Serbia

Considering it is his (unelected) job to know the general goings on in the world, EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief Josep Borrell appeared to drop the ball quite heavily during a press conference in Brussels on Monday.

Responding to a question about the current situation in Belgorod, Borrell responded, ‘I don’t know what it is about Belgrade.’ When the journalist explained they weren’t talking about Serbia’s capital but Belgorod, Russia, Borrell elaborated, ‘I don’t know what is happening in Belgrade or Belgorod. I don’t know.’ Thus putting everyone’s minds firmly at rest.
