Huge crowds and scuffles as Apple fans queue for iPhone 15

Sometimes, it’s worth risking life and limb to get your hands on a phone with one extra pixel. That was very much the mindset in Dubai Mall on Thursday, when thousands arrived to stake their place in line ahead of the much-anticipated iPhone 15 launch.

Huge crowds gathered before Friday’s release, leading the Apple Store to barricade its doors, with security staff urging customers to come back at a later date, or book online. Onlookers described the scene as ‘like a festival,’ except some shoppers weren’t in much of a celebratory mood, and scuffles could be seen breaking out, either because customers were angry at security preventing them from reaching their hallowed destination, or because there was nothing else to do. What were they gonna do, pass the time on their iPhone 14s?
