personally... I'm surprised that there is more than 3% awareness; that women realize that they can't get (and keep) the guys they really want... The fumble of the "ick factor" after two weeks of the guy not throwing them out shows they're still not quite understanding themselves enough to realize they reject people who don't reject them first.... (probably after countless sh*t tests being passed)...
The loneliness and despair after hitting the wall does do a lot to remedy that denial and self deceit... (Why haven't I invested in companies that make boxed whine, cat food a cat litter yet... or even just prozac, given the mental illness numbers?)
