I take it that's the perceived self perception from the point of view of the Christian being debated. I know the feeling, But like Putin said why stop there, its all religious fucks not just Christians. Really it's pointless debating them due to religion induced brain damage, the only hope is to catch them at the right time of the religious "menstruation" cycle similar to but not as frequent as the saying every woman is a hoe if you catch her on the right time of the month.

A study published in the journal Neuropsychologia shows that religious fundamentalism is at least partially the result of brain damage in the prefrontal cortex. Damage in this area of the brain leads to decreased cognitive flexibility and makes people more rigid, scientists at Northwestern Private University in the United States have shown.
Traits like curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness are affected in people who suffer from lesions in this part of the brain. “Religious beliefs can be thought of as socially transmitted mental representations that consist of supernatural events and supposedly real entities. Religious beliefs differ from empirical beliefs, which are based on how the world appears to be and are updated as new evidence accumulates or as new theories with better predictive power emerge. On the other hand, religious beliefs are generally not updated in response to new scientific evidence or explanations, and are therefore strongly associated with conservatism, ”a report of these findings said on the“ Raw Story ”website. .
Explaining the assault associated with fundamentalism, journalist Bobby Azarian, PhD in neuroscience, writes: “Fundamentalist groups generally oppose anything that questions or calls into question their beliefs or way of life. Because of this, they are often aggressive towards anyone who does not share their specific set of supernatural beliefs, and towards science, as these things are seen as existential threats to their entire worldview.
The Neuropsychologia article was written based on research conducted by Jordan Grafman of Northwestern University. He used data from Vietnam War veterans, a number of whom had brain damage suspected of playing a critical role in functions related to religious fundamentalism. “The CT scans were analyzed by comparing 119 vets with traumatic brain injuries to 30 healthy vets without damage, and a survey assessing religious fundamentalism was administered. While the majority of the participants were Christians of some sort, 32.5% did not specify a particular religion, ”Raw Story said.
“Cognitive flexibility” refers to the ability to move from one concept to another and think about several things simultaneously. It is a crucial skill to adapt to new environments. Brain imaging research has shown that a major neuronal region associated with cognitive flexibility is the prefrontal cortex. The researchers examined patients with lesions in this area and looked for correlations between damage in these areas and responses to religious fundamentalism, by administering a questionnaire.
The results were as expected, and the damage was shown to correspond to religious fundamentalism. Openness was measured using a widely used personality survey known as the NEO Personality Inventory.
Research suggests that extreme religious indoctrination interferes with the development or proper functioning of the prefrontal regions. However, the authors say that in addition to brain damage, genetic predispositions and social influences also need to be investigated.

@TheDemonKing: to be fair the whole second paragraph is copy and pasted. A diminished chord is a triad built from the root note, minor third, and a diminished fifth. It’s a chord with two minor thirds above the root. Meaning three semitones separate the third and fifth notes of the chord.

the human psychological inclination to define and protect the self and in group identity or self-conception is a core aspect of our functioning. It's a psycho-social process that optimizes the mind to become a heuristic. The strongest signals are expressed through sequential activation of cortical pathways. because it takes energy (ATP) to regulate calcium ion channels also known as "thought" the activity is regulated by the neural machinery known as the protein biome. The instructions for the proteins are obviously in the DNA, but how those proteins are expressed in terms of quantity and quality, as each gene can produce multiple forms of a protein, is determined by a natural feedback mechanism inherent to the internal environment of the cell. This is what's is known as epi-genetics and it's directly tied to the feedback mechanism known as "thought". This is how Religion damages the brain, Think of every part of the brain as a muscle group it's use it or lose it. As an example even if you were able to restore a blind man's sight through technological means their brains wouldnt have the neural the network configured to process those signals, especially if they were born blind (think paraplegic suddenly being able to walk but no muscles to do it with) Their brains would litteraly have to learn to see. The ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vMPFC) is a higher level subcomponent of the brain that is responsible for intro-spective thought, This is the part of the brain that is damaged by Religious fundumentalism, true die hard adherents to a faith. The tool or ice pick by which this labotomy is performed is ritual(chruch) and mantra(prayer). Ever wonder where the phrase in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king came from? well this is the truth behind it. This is why all religion is evil. But to reiterate the human psychological inclination to define and protect the self and in group identity or self-conception is at core of what religion exploits. The problem is not throwing out the baby with the bath water

@Electrolytic: You are missing a very important piece of that puzzle. The Religious specifically Abrahamic are not given any reason to think about many things, simple stupid emotionally driven answers are presented to them in order to prevent them from actually contemplating anything their book of lies already answered for them. By never using their brains to learn about these complex nuaced difficult to understand subjects their brains never develop the capacity to do so. And it hurts their feeling and it's hard for them to try,so the vast majority sink back into the arms of god to remain blissfully ignorant because it is easier. The brain can overcome having it's development stunted by religion but just like any other red pill you must go through a deep valley of negative feelings and harsh truths which defy comfortable lies. If a man isn't strong enough they can never break free because they cannot handle the mental emotional pain of doing so

@TheDemonKing: Neuralplasticity is amazing I will admit. However, it has it's limits. For example; psychopaths have a part of the brain that doesnt function and based on behavior the brain can't seem to compensate for that missing sub component. In my opinion it is the mechanism of strict long term adeherance to a faith. As it replaces the self with the group identity for one and two it negates the need for introspective thought since you have faith your doing what is right. The ventromedial prefrontal cortex ceases to develop and in time completely atrophies like a muscle due to lack of use. That why in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king. religius leaders go around poking out everyones eyes (Plebs) and even though they themselves have only one eye (psychopaths) in this way they can rule. But God forbid you eat the apple and listen to the serpent (to borrow from their mythos) first to nuritious the body to feed the mind the second to rub the religion out of your eyes

@TheDemonKing: At least on some level you what keeps people faithful? The fact that it is easier to fool people than convince them that they have been fooled
