... so, maybe I'm just giving people too much credit... If I were a super evil POS, I would begin by making sure that if I ever 'might' get caught I would have an escape plan(s) and enough "insurance" (black mail and countless layers of deadman switches) to continue doing what I'm going to do or a least live comfortably while 'confined'.
The next thing I would do would be to 'not do anything' (personally) every actual criminal act would be done by someone else, orders to do so would have come from someone else as well. I would have at least three layers of insulation from any actual action. Tenpenny didn't order Megaton to be destroyed just mentioned; "This is a nice view, except that spot there"... That kind of indirect "instruction" allows complete denial of any wrong doing.
At the highest level "money" doesn't exist; anything they need/want/are remotely interested in, is delivered.... Three or four levels down you have the groups/organizations that 'own' 99% of all assets/markets/stocks/bonds/ETC. on paper.
Epstein was probably at least 8 levels down from the actual cause.
Again, maybe I'm giving too much credit, but with enough power and authority that operates outside any and all laws... any number of means of causing widespread damage could easily be waiting to be triggered.
Occam's Razor though; sure dirty politicians, but most likely clean politicians can't get in because the people with interests/money/power would find it inconvenient?
