Freak waves batter Peru

A series of freak, 3m-high waves have battered the coast of Peru, damaging fishing boats, forcing businesses along the shore to close, and forcing 30 ports to close. The waves, affecting the Piura and Tumbes regions, are set to continue until the new year, according to forecasts.
