Lawmakers in Paris passed a bill banning children under 15 from using social media, making France the first country in the EU to do so.

The legislation also aims to forbid mobile phone use in high schools.

The president expects the law to take effect at the start of September. However, it is likely to undergo a constitutional review that could potentially delay its implementation.

Emmanuel Macron has been the main promoter of the law, calling it a step toward protecting children.

To discuss this, we speak with a panel of guests — Civil Rights Attorney Robert Patillo, Facebook whistleblower and censorship expert Ryan Hartwig, and Senior Research Fellow at the Global Policy Institute George Szamuely.
