Firefighters battle flames in western Spain

Hundreds were evacuated and about 2,000 hectares burnt as wildfires engulfed north-western Spain.

According to firefighting commanders, the situation was ‘critical’ and went out of control, reaching as far as Sierra de Gata. The Military Emergency Unit (UME) reported that it has been working around the clock to extinguish the fire, deploying bulldozers and drones to support its efforts.
