wow illegal swearing in... raising your right hand does not make it legal...
you cannot be sworn in unless you are also under oath, and that requires the use of a bible and proper authority...
police do not have the authority required for that... they can take statements and that is all they can legally do...
sadly most judges do not have the authority for it either, since the authority has to be given by vote, and 90% of judges are placed in their positions and not voted in...
unless the judge is voted in and takes the oath of office (which is under the constitution/bill of rights a TEMPORARY position) they have NO AUTHORITY...
since police are hired and not voted in they cannot perforce put someone under oath or swear them in to give testamony on a case....
police cannot be judges as well because that would be a conflict of interest, same for the DA (although it happens anyways, same for lawyers becoming judges)...

at least they got the bitch, and hope it is the correct one.
