Explosions rock Gaza Port as IDF targets vessels

On Tuesday, a massive column of black smoke billowed over the Port of Gaza as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly aimed their strikes at vessels in the besieged Palestinian city. Footage captured explosions in the waters of the port, and it showed a small fishing boat engulfed in flames. An IDF statement asserted that the Israeli military was ‘currently striking terror targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization’ along the coast of Gaza. There were concerns that Hamas may attempt to use the port to leave Gaza and strike at other parts of Israel, or turn cargo ships into makeshift weapons.

These strikes on the Port of Gaza followed an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israel on Saturday, October 7, and Israel’s equally unprecedented response.
