I don't know if this is Ai or for real....

But I understand where this guy is coming from.

Loads of Abuse and Neglect.

It shows in how unmagable his life is and how he keeps himself and his bike.

The first thing is the primary drive - or the chain that goes from the motor to the clutch.

Primary chains are similar to timing chains (crankshaft to cam shaft in the head/s), except in properly sealed cases with adequate lubrication, they kind of last for a long time, where as timing chains tend to last a very long time.

OK if you look at the RUST on the motor sprocket and the clutch cover, they had oil on them once upon a time, and they have since gone rusty from being out in the weather....

The primary chain - that is supposed to be covered in oil and inside a sealed case. It's not.

This is dangerous - straight out - in terms getting your foot stuck in the chain and motor sprocket / clutch - You only have to fuck up once, and your name is Hoppy - because the front half of your foot is missing.

The primary drive chain - spins around at motor speed, not final drive - or rear wheel speed.

You can calculate the sprocket diameters and the wheel diameters and the gear ratios, for say 100 Kmh and or miles per hour, and work out which chain is doing what speed.

The primary drive chain, also has a LOT OF power behind it....

AND without an oil bath, and a way to keep dirt out of the pins and links, the wear will be extraordinarily fast.... AND it will tend to break, under the greatest loads, the earliest......

Harleys Piss Poor LOW IQ shit Engineering.

Tells me fuck all except the bikes were plauged with low tech crap and outdated engineering and had lots of problems.

Chatgpt:

Assumptions and Estimates

To answer this, we’ll estimate the chain's kinetic energy just before failure.

Engine speed: 4500 RPM = 75 revolutions per second

Radius of chain loop (from center to middle of chain path): about 6 inches = 0.15 meters

Chain mass: about 1.8 kg (roughly 4 pounds)

Angular velocity: 75 rev/s × 2π = ~471 radians/second

Tangential speed of chain: 471 rad/s × 0.15 m = ~70.7 meters/second

Energy Calculation

We’ll use the kinetic energy formula for a moving object:

Kinetic Energy (KE) = ½ × mass × velocity²

KE = ½ × 1.8 kg × (70.7 m/s)²
KE ≈ 4491 Joules

What Does That Mean?

To put that in perspective:

A fast-pitched baseball (~90 mph) carries about 150 joules.

A 9mm handgun bullet has around 500 joules.

A .308 rifle bullet? Roughly 3500 joules.

This snapping motorcycle chain: about 4500 joules.

So, a flying chain at that speed is as dangerous as a rifle round in terms of energy. If it hits a rider:

It can shatter bone, sever muscle, or cause severe trauma.

It could lead to amputation or fatal bleeding if a major artery is struck.

Conclusion

If a primary drive chain snaps at 4500 RPM:

It could release over 4,000 joules of energy.

That energy, directed at the rider’s leg, is enough to cause catastrophic injury or death.

Moral of the story: Regularly inspect and maintain your chain drive. A snapped chain isn’t just a breakdown — it can be a life-threatening event.

Let me know if you want a deeper analysis or a visual simulation.
