I really am lost for words.... Apartment buildings - 5 - 10 stories high - made of dry grey mud and wire coat hangers... And they are full of people. People should be executed for these things.

Thing is, for years now in China it has become a custom to invest in an apartment in some remote city as part of a big building project. Caveat : no one ever lives in those apartments, they are purely bought in the expectation that real estate will rise in value, and is only bought for its resale value later. Consequently, the building company cuts further costs by not caring about finishing the place, so you end up with cities full of apartment towers without windows, plumbing, etc. And that's how they keep building...

@usr6874038614: I have / had a friend who is / was a concrete engineer - he's been on a tour of China, and he says in terms of a great deal of China is built with sub standard concrete, "The whole place is fucked - and the rate of failure is just just going to accelerate - buidings, bridges, roads, railways - the three gorges dam is up shit creek..

The wealthy chinese middle class has to come from somewhere; when you have lived in an overpopulated society where cheating is the default way of life and simply called "being clever", it will take an apocalyptic event before people might start changing their mindset.
