I'm not sure.. I personally can't call it true love, but artificial love.. Because true love isn't perfect.. Sometimes there are conflicts, arguments, etc.. Reconciliations, peace... etc.. There's something very human in love.. The show makes you realize what the consequences on a population wil be if these Persocoms (robots) existed.. The show shows perfectly the beautiful and the ugly side of the existence of these robots.. Keep watching the following episodes and you'll understand why ;-)

@Doggk: thanks for the reply, and I suppose that the only true love is in between parent and child, but that may vary from person to person. As for relationships aka mating men and female—there is no true love when it comes to the female towards the male. However from my observation the male must prove himself ‘worthy’ of the females ‘love’ which is nothing more than showing the makes capabilities to provide. Just like in nature most make animals must ‘fight’ for the right to breed with a female. However human’s are slightly different by their capability to create illusions within illusions which allows them to overwrite rules that would normally be absolute.

Marriage is one such illusion, as it allows both male abs female to circumvent the many dangers that would normally be found in nature. Therefore I can say that society is like the body and the marriage (family structure) is like the mitochondria found in each cell within the body.

However this only applies to the very original version of marriage where the male had ownership of his offspring since that is truly what he is purchasing from the female in exchange for the excess resources that he’d normally have for himself.

Although at the same time the female had the right to do as she pleased for the most part as long as she is willing to suffer the consequences of possibly never seeing the children brought upon the contract between the male and female.

Henceforth it can be said that both men and woman were ‘free’ to remain or leave the relationship at any time, however their would be ramifications for both sides, the female would lose access to resources, children, and make attention plus the shaming brought upon by society aka the people around them. While the male would lose a home maker, easy sexual access, a child rearer, as well as being shamed depending on the circumstances.

@eldrazi317: Agreed. I would say this is a truer form of "love" than anything involving a man and woman. Because the man might love the woman, but the woman would "love" what the man could provide. Honestly, technology just has driven this home further and made it more obvious than before. If I were to make a guess, if Perscoms (and DEFINITELY if Chobits) actually existed, I'd see a lot of men going for that rather than dealing with the nonsense on the natural dynamic.
