China launches ‘blockade’ drills near Taiwan after provocative remarks from island

China has launched large-scale military drills around the island of Taiwan, simulating strikes on sea and land targets.

The move comes after remarks at the National Day celebrations underscored Beijing has no right to represent Taiwan. The Chinese ministry of Defense has shown they were listening, and now are sending a clear warning.
