Not necessarily as their must always be a contingency in place in case the worst ever happens—technology fails us. Plus we’d still need the eggs they produce.

What do you mean by companion bot? As in fully automatic movement and able to talk? Or just the part where it’s able to learn from you and eventually speak to you in coherent sentences with understanding of all the contexts that come along with it? I’m thinking the “artificial intelligence” will come sooner than the actual part about self cleaning, balance and movement capabilities, however from what I read companies are working on it.
