Argentina honors Evita on 70th anniversary of her death

Thousands marched in Buenos Aires commemorating the 70th anniversary of the death of Eva 'Evita' Peron. She was the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 to 1952, and a political activist when women were widely marginalized in society. She received numerous national and foreign honors, and has also been the subject of books, stage plays, and musicals, including the film 'Evita', where she was portrayed by Madonna.
