That was a classic coping rant; the classic fable of the fox and the grapes. They have to complain that what they want but cannot have is somehow tainted. They think this will justify their claim of superiority in the face of certain defeat. This is not to be confused with the type of will fortifying speach as Churchill's "We shall fight them on the landing grounds and on the beaches ..." speach. Just another whine of the victimhood, useless drivel.
